e Mazouch summed up her new responsibilities in three words – employment, benefits and training.
As the new director of Human Resources (HR) at Sunflower Diversified Services, Mazouch concentrates on these elements of her job as they pertain to all new and veteran employees.
“I advocate for all employees so they understand the features and benefits available to them,” Mazouch said. “However, the people with special needs that we serve are always in the front of our minds. They are the people who ultimately reap the benefits of a well-trained staff.
“Our caring and professional staff members improve the quality of life for the people we serve,” Mazouch explained. “Staff support is a big part of affording people the opportunity to live their best lives.”
Those who consider applying for a Sunflower position should know “the work here is personally rewarding and we have a fun working environment,” Mazouch commented. “There is a true teamwork approach here, as well as opportunities to grow within the organization.”

Mazouch started at Sunflower about six months ago as an HR compliance specialist but was recently promoted to the director’s position.
“I am continuing to learn about the multitude of ways Sunflower provides support to children and adults,” she said. “I am increasing my knowledge about the various facets of this great organization every day.
“Simultaneously, I foster employees’ growth throughout the organization. Their training and compassion make a huge difference in the lives of the people we serve.”
Originally from Hanston, Mazouch earned her bachelor’s degree in advertising, with an emphasis in journalism and mass communications at Kansas State University. At K-State, she served on the Board of Student Publications. She also has an associate’s degree from Barton Community College and served as a student ambassador.
Mazouch’s career began in 2006 as plan administrator at CPI Qualified Plan Consultants. She then became the education solutions manager as CPI transitioned into CUNA Mutual Retirement Solutions.
In 2016, she moved to Landmark National Bank where she was manager and security officer.
Mazouch’s community service includes being a co-founder of 100 Who Care in Barton County and serving on the Barton County Young Professionals Steering Committee. This year, she will serve as a Great Bend Chamber of Commerce Ambassador.
She lives in Great Bend with her husband and two “active boys.”
Jon Prescott, chief executive officer, said Sunflower staff and clients are fortunate that Mazouch chose the non-profit agency as her new career path.
“Julie comes to us with a great deal of expertise in employee benefits and leadership, along with business acumen,” Prescott said. “I had the pleasure of working with Julie at CPI where she was an amazing supervisor.
“She knows how to lead a team in a very positive way and understands the importance of growth versus the status quo,” Prescott continued. “Julie is a great addition to our team of directors here at Sunflower.”
Sunflower serves infants, toddlers and adults in Barton, Pawnee, Rice, Rush and Stafford counties. It is in its 55th year.
